IMPUNITY

2026

PROJECT IN RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PHASE

Although more and more voices are currently being raised against violence and impunity, it remains necessary to persist. Violence against the feminine continues to occur systematically and, in many cases, without consequences. The repetition of these events demonstrates that impunity does not belong to the past: it continues to operate as an active structure.

Naming forms of violence is, therefore, a necessity. When they are not named, they become normalized; when they are normalized, they are repeated. Impunity not only allows violence to continue, but it actively produces more violence. It thus generates a form of fragmented memory: the event occurred, but since there is no record, it remains suspended between the private and the non-existent.

The notion of an «empty space» is proposed to describe that place where the crime is diluted by not being recognized or inscribed in the public sphere. The project situates itself within this void to occupy it with mass and volume. Faced with the disappearance of the event, the artistic practice is framed as an exercise in materialization and memory: producing objects that make visible that which has been erased.

2022

Born during the RARA artist residency, I love you to death is an ever-evolving experimental piece and the initial seed of a broader project: IMPUNITY.

The work questions the trap of a phrase that sounds deeply romantic, yet literally encapsulates the violence of femicide and the shadow of impunity. It is fascinating how each process takes its own time and rhythm to manifest, transform, and unfold.
